@marceldouwedekker Thanks for the pointer to http://www.businessmodelhub.com . I see that it’s Ning community, so perhaps @myersk and @phoenix will get some ideas on how online communities emerge/converge their thinking.
A quick look at the Business Model Innovation Hub doesn’t reveal the systems thinking foundations to me. Perhaps I need to be pointed at them. I’ve generally been more comfortable with researchers who are more explicit about their foundations, e.g. Normann, Ramirez and Wallin, as I’ve described at http://coevolving.com/blogs/index.php/archive/value-creating-systems-and-business-models-systems-thinking-inside/ .
Hi David, You are right that the systems thinking foundations are not made explicit in the businessmodelhub. Or more precise, I haven’t come to looking into that yet. Waht I ment is that I experience a base of systems thinking in their method. A business is being approached as a whole (system) and there is main focuss the input and output.
In similar methods,or more precise, modelling languages such as IDEF0 and Business Process Modeling Notation I experience a simar base of systems thinking…!? And also in the theory of these methods there is little reference to systems thinking. I keep wondering why…!?
The interesting thing about the BMI is that it is a visual method developed into a quite practical management-tool, which appeals to a conceptual understanding how business perform, or could perform. This is the main focuss of my own research.
