This paper presents a system dynamics model highlighting drivers of urbanization, its impact on carrying capacity, and the consequent multiple feedbacks that impacts urbanization’s growth.

Model simulation runs indicate that the city under consideration would face its limits to growth in form of Environment Pollution. We also learn from the model that there are nested limits which would restrict the city’s growth. Thus, it confirms that even with a limitless external environment, that a city enjoys, it is bound to face endogenous limits to its growth. Something that Jay Forrester and Meadows et. al had written in the 1960s and 1970s.
