Notification emails always seem to arrive at opportune moments with interesting content. I, for one, would be sad to see this place disappear.

As already suggested, a read-only archive shouldn’t be too bad a compromise, and I’m sure an additional round of feedback could be used to present solutions on how best to achieve that. I would guess a static archive from a site-crawler (e.g. HTTrack) with an upload to gh-pages could be the simplest option.

Creating a flat HTML website using HTTrack is an approach I’ve used with my own web sites. (Maintaining old Wordpress and Drupal web sites requires maintenance in a way that flat HTML files don’t).

I just tried to scrape a copy of model.report from the web onto my (Linux) computer. It could be that the robots.txt is deterring me from doing that. (I’m not really sure how the lobste.rs platform works).

If I were provided with a flat file export of model.report, I could host that over at http://syscoi.com .
